Devin C. Hughes

This highly interactive workshop will focus on best practices in successful diversity and inclusion initiatives and on their specific application in the participants’ organization.

In today’s multicultural environment, it is still not uncommon for workplaces to be divided down racial or cultural lines. Devin addresses the topics of racism (direct or indirect) and intolerance head on, helping leadership teams break down barriers to productivity and achieve greater success as a result of increased understanding. The training we provide works towards breaking down barriers and making communication easier through greater self awareness and understanding of cultural issues that are often daunting and uncomfortable for professionals who are trying to engage diverse communities.

Plain and simple – the workplace is diverse, and your workforce must understand how to communicate with people who are different than them.

Upon completion of this course, participants will understand:

  • What is diversity and how does it matter to you and to your organization?
  • Inclusion and its benefits for individual, team, and organizational effectiveness
  • The elements of inclusion at multiple levels: individual, interpersonal, leadership, and organizational
  • Leadership for inclusion and inclusive leadership – strategies and practices
  • Understand their diversity self-awareness and competencies
  • Define culture and diversity, and understand where cultural influences come from
  • Openly discuss diversity and cultural differences as a means of celebration of differences
  • Pinpoint their own assumptions and perceptions
  • Create an action plan for reducing and eliminating biases, stereotypes and prejudices
  • Understand their own conflict style and how culture plays into it, so that they can develop a plan for better conflict resolution
